Default Headlights or taillights, I can't get both... Brake lights work

Hey guys and gals, need some help. I have a 93 Dakota, I changed the headlight switch and wiring harness about a year or so ago. I now have either headlights or taillights, but not both. If I caress the switch I can get running lights and taillights, but not dims. Brake lights work just fine.

This sounds like a bad switch to me again.

Time to pull out the trouble light and make sure the switch is, or is not, switching appropriately, using the wiring diagram in the factory service manual.

If not, then time to swap the switch out, checking the connector also.

I've had "brights but no dims" before and it was a bad dimmer switch.

Yep, but the OP does specifically say "headlights or taillights", that's not a "brights but no dims".

Tail lights don't go through the dimmer switch; matter of fact, the last common point for tail lights and head lights is the headlight switch!

So again, switch first.
