Default Dakota Hood Rod Clip

I've looked everywhere and can't find the hood rod clip that goes into the core support to secure the hood rod. I can't even find a part # in my service manual, and googling just pulls up the wrangler style clip that looks too tall. Anyone have any ideas where to look. I have an unbroken one on my 90 core support that I could swap to my new front end, but it appears once it is in you can't get it out without breaking the plastic tabs, as there is no access from underneath to push in the tabs...it's sealed in the core support.

My FSM calls it the "stowage retainer clip" Maybe that will help you talking to a dealer to get a part number.
I found this which looks like its for a 2000 dak http://www.factorychryslerparts.com/.../J4007456.html

If you want to remove one from the old rig maybe get it into a warm place and use a blow dryer on it to heat it up then try bending those tabs that hold it in and see if it comes out without breaking it.

Edit just found this one 2.50 cheaper

Yeah, that's the one I had found that's also used in the Wranglers. http://www.ebay.com/itm/Jeep-Wrangle...9YM3Uv&vxp=mtr

It doesn't look much like the clips in the Gen 1 daks, and I was concerned it might sit a little high. As for the heat, you can't get access to the tabs. Once pushed in, the tabs are in a sealed channel in the core.

Well I went out and looked at my 94. It was loose so I jiggled it and it came out.
Here is a picture. It looks like someone used a flat screwdriver or something like it and bent that one side of the clip up. Anyway I hope this helps you might be able to find one one the pages that have clips of all sorts for sale.

Thanks friend....now that I see the underneath I might be able to work a small dental tool in to release the one in my 90 core. Thank you again for taking the time to do that.

That's a cool site Ralph...I paged through all 40 pages of chrysler parts and didn't see the rod clip. But plenty of other stuff I might need. Thanks!
