I thought you guys might get a good laugh out of my pain and suffering:

Can anyone spot what's wrong here?

That picture is HUGE!! All I can see is oil dripping on your exhaust pipe.

Yeah for some reason they aren't resizing, and those are just pics I took with my phone! But yes, I had a bad trans pan leak I was attempting to fix. I went after the bolts up front first since they are the most difficult to reach...Then the last bolt, right above the driver's side downpipe I noticed a longer than normal 1/2 hex head bolt, with a 9/16 nut between it and the pan acting as a spacer.

It's long enough that it rubs the exhaust and I can't get to or unscrew the bolt. Time to drop the exhaust to get to it!

Well I dropped the exhaust to get that bolt out, and the y-pipe weld split. Now I have an exhaust leak to deal with!

It felt like the PO partially stripped two of the bolt holes. I was able to get slightly longer new bolts in and torqued to spec. I also added a trans dipstick boot, that seems to have solved the leak up above the pan - the o-ring was garbage.
