1990 Dak 3.9 4WD Trans replacement.
I have a 1990 Dak with the 3.9 in it its 4WD and I lost reverse a couple months back. Now that my tax return is on the way I've decided to replace the trans and keep my T-case, What trans do I need from what vehicle ECT. I I know it is an A500 42rh lockup trans but I dont know what other vehicles have them. Thanks.

I have rebuilt 3 of these transmissions in the last year, of these, 2 have been since the 1st of this year. You can run a transmission from a 90-95 4WD Dakota or gas full size Dodge. Only thing is that if it comes from behind a 360 the converter will have balance weight on it. Believe it or not you can put a heavier duty 518 in there. Stick with one from a 318 or a 3.9 and you will be good. DO NOT get one from a Jeep as though everything else is the same they run the starter on the other side.
Hey sorry for the late reply. The fluid looks like chocolate milk almost but all forward gears work fine I just bought the truck in August so I have no clue if someone else has been inside the trans or not. I'm assuming no since the kid I bought it from was as dumb as a box of rocks. Thanks!
