i recently bought a 1991 dodge dakota with a 5.2 and automatic transmisson,

the transmission is bad, and i still havent checked the engine,

my friend is in the process of junking a 1987 chrysler fifth avenue. with automatic tramission and 5.2 engine.,

what are the chances that i could swap engine and trans off that chrysler to the dodge dakota

 

You could swap the engine...assumming the 91 has an LA block which it should....you would need to keep the intake and everything above from the truck.

the transmission in the 87 is a three speed. No overdrive like the 4 speed Dakota.
