Default 92 dakota mysterious wheel cylinder bolt size?

Working on this cobbled up truck. Trying to remove a blown left wheel cylinder, and no socket fits it. And Google is worthless.

can anyone give me insight?

3/8
5/16
9mm
10mm

none if these fit. 3/8 and 10 just spin.

5/16 and 9 don't even go on.

in at my wits end with this truck.

It should have been 10mm. Go to Autozone, they sell sockets for rounded off bolt heads.

My two cents is that you should change both of them at the same time. I had my rear wheels lock up on me 500 miles from home. Luckily it let go and worked normally the trip home. When I got home it turned out a previous owner had only changed one wheel cylinder and the older one crapped out.

NO! it should be 3/8.... the bolt thread size is 1/4-20. that is one thing I like so well about these trucks, especially this gen. Most fasteners are still SAE rather than metric. one of the last vehicles on the road that can say that.... only metric crap on there would be the bolts that hold the lines to the AC compressor, only other ones on them would be air pump related hardware if you are unlucky enough to live in an area that requires them (California) My '01 though is alot more metric than standard, though the engine and tranny hardware is still SAE.... (has the 360)

10mm is slightly larger than 3/8. if you started with 10mm you might have rounded the bolt head! Try one thing; do you know anyone with any Snap on tools? try, just try a Snap on 3/8 6 point socket. I have gotten so many fasteners off with Snap on that I had given up on with other tools.... you may need to slightly hammer (tap) the socket on.
