4x4 trans question
I have a 1992 Dodge Dakota extended cab short bed 4x4. it is a 318 v8 motor Trans is slipping and this is my yard plow truck. In addition the kickdown cable is split where it attaches to the throttle
I have the opportunity to purchase a 1989 reg cab long bed 3.9 v6 4x4 truck that has a bad motor. My question is will the trans outta the older v6 truck bolt up and work in my v8 truck?
Secondly if it will not work and I wind up taking out the trans outta my 1992, where can I find a place who sells new kickdown cables for this kind of truck?
thank You in advance

The 89 trans will bolt up and work with your 92, as the V8's and V6's share the same block configuration and bolt patterns at the rear. Whether the trans from the 125 hp V6 is up to the job behind the 235 hp Magnum V8 is another question, but it might be fine. It could even be the same trans; someone else around here probably knows the answer to that question.
The bed length difference won't matter, it only affects the driveshaft length.
As for parts, I'd try the online route thru Rockauto.

I'd check the dealership; also, be sure to check the online dealers.
I'd first do a Google search for "1992 Dakota Exploded Parts Diagrams" (use the proper year!), and see if you can find the Mopar part number.
If nothing else, I'm sure Lokar has a generic/semi-generic that will fit and work, even though it won't look quite the same.
