Just take a door lock to either the dealer or a locksmith and they'll make you a key

 

Glad you worked that out. Was there some references you found or did you just stumble over the right switch?

 

See first post. The information from the dealer was vague, but it sounded like I had a good chance of finding it in the '88-'98 range, so I was ready to start pulling the plastic off of every column that might qualify (only three screws and a few seconds to look). Just got lucky in that there was a '98 on the yard where I'd just spent the day dropping that Subaru tranny.
