I just bought a 94 Dakota V8. It's been running great until the other day when it died. I'm pretty sure it's not sparking. It tried to start but won't turn over. So far I checked the wires under the relay box and they are still connected. However I found that there is a two wire connector coming from the box. The black wire is connected to somewhere under the engine but the red is Not? Anyone know where this is supposed to be connected?
This is the connector This is the disconnectes red wire
First, you said two different things. No spark and doesn't turn over are not equivalent diagnoses. Doesn't turn over means the engine isn't cranking at all...IE the starter is not turning over the engine. No spark, means you don't see spark out of the coil.
Now, hard to tell, but that looks like the main hot connector for the ignition. It connects directly to the + post on the battery. Look for remnants of the broken end at the battery terminal. I use a round spade connector for mine, but many in the past just shoved them under the post clamp, and they break off over time.

Thanks, I'll have to take a look when I get home. And sorry about the lingo mix up. When I turn the key it tries to start but doesn't. It's getting fuel so it's not the fuel pump. I'm pretty positive that wire is for the ignition so thank you for you help.
