94 Dakota Heater and Radio stopped working.
So I went to the store, and right when i got into a parking spot, and put the truck into park, the heater stopped working and the radio went dead. Since then the radio has worked a few times but always went back to not working. What could be causing this? I tried replacing the 30 amp fuse marked witha 1 inside the truck, which i read online was for the a/c heater motor, but that didn't work. Any suggestions?
Check your ground points.
The radio grounds to the cross support behind/under the instrument cluster; you can reach that by dropping the knee panel under the steering column.
The blower motor may be coincidental also; but its ground is inside the right side kick panel.
I'd more think the resistor quit; do you get zero fan, or fan only on high, or what? But I'd check for continuity to ground from the HVAC control switch also.

One more thing to check is the ignition switch, in case it's failing.
But time to start checking. I don't have a 1994 FSM, but the 1995 you can download from the FAQ1 sticky should be close enough.
With the ignition switch at "RUN", see if the 30A fuse has power (if it's got the exposed contacts on top, check both sides.)
If no, check fuse E in the PDC under the hood; if there's power both sides there (even with the ignition switch OFF), then it's most likely the ignition switch failing.
That can also affect the radio; although that might be a different section of the ignition switch.
Now. If you have 12V on both sides of Fuse 1 with the ignition switch in "RUN" (motor doesn't have to be on for this), then check the blower motor connector; one side should be 12V the other not connected if the fan switch is "OFF".
Let us know what you discover.
We'll worry about the radio after this is fixed.
(Especially since, if it's the ignition switch, that may fix the radio also.)
