Sometimes when I stop the gage drops to E & the warning lite comes on. lasts @ 10 to 15 seconds then normal?

 

Sender going bad probably.

 

How full is it when that happens?

There's not a lot of baffling in the tanks (well, there wasn't on my 1988) ... and there's no "anti-slosh" on the line. So if the fuel sloshes, it can drop the float down low enough to trigger both.
