Default Speedometer cable replacemen...88 Dakota 3.9

How hard is it to replace the speedometer cables in a 88 Dakota 3.9 V6? When I get up to 45 MPH, the speedometer gauge goes to “twitching” & making a “chattering” noise.

Thanks for the input!

Before replacing, I'd pull it, flush out the housing for the cable, and reinstall it with sufficient lube (I put nitrile gloves on and used some moly grease on it as I shoved it back down into the housing.)

Do you have cruise or not? If not, you CAN get a new shaft if the old shaft is bad; if it's not bad, it'd be better to just clean and lube.

And if you don't have cruise, it's actually pretty easy; but you can't find the housing new, so you'd have to find a good used set.

(Same for with cruise, it's just with that cruise servo in the middle, it's a bit more complicated, as in "you get to do everything double.")
