Lights on the blink
The other day my lights started acting up. The left turn signal works in the day time but at night when I turn the running lights on the turn signal quits flashing and lights everything up. occasionally it will flash every light ( including the dash lights)
I know something is going to ground, but am not sure what.
On a side note, how do I remove the headlight switch and front marker light assembly? and where is the flasher unit under the dash?
Thanks
Steve

Actually, something is NOT going to ground ...
Specifically, the first thing to check is the ground for the left turn signals, front and rear.
In GENERAL, the flasher is in the fuse box under the dash. What year is your Dakota? <dry> There are a few differences from 1987 to 1996 ... </dry>
The front marker light varies between early 1st gen and later "Aero" 2nd Gen fronts. GENERALLY, remove the screws and pull the housing out.
Have you obtained the factory service manual for your truck first? The one from Bishko Publishing (who did the printing for Chrysler Corp.)?

Alas, 1992 isn't in the downloads here.
You can check the 1995, the majority of the wiring SHOULD be the same. However, it may be different in ways to drive you to frustration.
But I'd start checking the grounds at the lights for your lighting problem
The aero parts are the same 1992-1996, so the how-to-remove should work for you also; for 1995, they still listed the sealed beam as "standard", so the book may help with THAT too.
The 1995 FSM is linked to in the FAQ in the sticky area; IIRC, it's about 1/3 of the way down. I'd grab that and start studying it if I were you.
