Default Cab Fuses --Any Always Hot?

Hello,

I was wondering if any of the cab fuses were always hot, even without the key in the ignition.

Yep.

For starters, the keep alive memory fuse.

Quick test - if you have the ATO type fuses, prod the back side of them with the key off to find the always-on fuses.

If you don't, pull them one by one and check both sides, again with key off.

I attached a PDF of the fuse block. Notice that there's a fuse for the cig lighter (always on), the horn (always on), tail lights (always on), stop lights (always on), and power door locks (always on).

That's a good starting point.

Thanks Ralph.

Not sure where my Cigar lighter is hooked to but it is not always on. Of course it did not work for years and then I replaced with dual USB plugs.

It's supposed to be.

*checks page 8W-37*

You're right, for 1993, it's switched.

The light fuses may also be switched by the headlight switch for the park lights.

My mistake; for 1988, it's hot all the time.

I'll recommend again that you grab the FSM for your truck; it shows what's wired where.

FSM?

I have both the Haynes and the Chilton, but they are in the truck and I am feeling lazy. :-D

"Ruth's Chris Steak? I have both a Big Mac and a Big Azz Burger from the gas station in the car ... "

No, no, no!

BAD Chris!!!

Factory Service Manual.

Do you drive a Haynes Dakota? Or a Chilton Dakota? Then why would you confuse those with the FACTORY service manual?

(Besides, for wiring, they don't even make good toilet paper.)

Hie thee hence to Ebay and search for a used copy. Or contact http://www.autobooksbishko.com to buy a paper ('spensive) or PDF (on CD, much cheaper) version of the manual.
