Vapor canister filling vacuum lines with carbon pellets
While checking the one-way check valves I broke a vacuum line. I went to blow through it both ways but as I took it off some black sand-like stuff came out. So I tapped it a bit and found a few lines clogged and full carbon pellets. Upon some research, it turned out my vapor canister was leaking the pellets into the system. The canister costs about $90 to $130! Luckily I found one at Pick N Pull on a 95 with the same part number and all even though it was from a 6 cylinder. I pulled some vacuum lines and check valves while I was at it. Cost me $35 for the canister and lines. When I removed the stock one the charcoal was coming out of it and it sounded like it lost about 1/8 of the charcoal compared to the "new" one. After I snapped some lines and cleaned the newish ones, I put all that crap together and checked for vacuum leaks. It came out alright. Those hard plastic lines are fragile after 245K miles.
Hopefully, I'll pass my smog test tomorrow.
