Default cracked head

Well finally got my 93 dakota running. 3.9L V6 magnum. Dam engine is actually idling smoothly. Thought I was going to have a good day, but found that theres white smoke coming from exhaust and now water in my oil. According to what few maintenance records I have the head gaskets were replaced about a month before the truck was sent to auction. Im pretty sure I have a cracked head. I honestly dont have the mechanical know how to replace the heads on this thing. Looking up costs it looks like its between $1000-$1500 for a shop to do and thats even if they will do it. Finding out lots of shops would rather replace the engine then go through the hassle of just replacing the heads. Just looking for suggestions. Have my engine rebuilt or pay for rebuilt engine, both seem to run in the same price range. Sorry for the novice questions

If you are just replacing the heads you could buy new complete heads and just swap them out. It might be worth it to try to get it diagnosed as a cracked head first. IDK how to do that excepot by removing it/them.
Use nice big pieces of painters tape to make labels for where things you take off go. Pictures would also help you
