Turning Radius?
I recently restored the power steering in my '89 Dodge Dakota. I installed the power steering pump and soon discovered that the rack and pinion was leaking like a sieve, so I replaced it with the cheapest one I could get from NAPA. Since the restoration, I have noticed that the truck has a very large turning radius. When we bought the truck, the power steering was defunct, so I wasn't focused on the turning radius but simply making any turns at all. Are there any options that would improve the turning radius. Should I have bought a more expensive rack and pinion assembly? Thanks, Jim
Ah, the 1st Gen 2WD Dakota.
The truck that has the sad distinction of the largest turning radius of ANY 1987/1988 2WD truck, and a larger turning radius than almost any 4WD truck.
Not much; just plan on a wide turn with it.
(Do you have the LWB 124" or the SWB 112"?)
