Hello guys doing some research on the heater core removal in my truck and it makes it seem like you have to take out the A/C Evap too. Is there ANY way to avoid disconnecting the Evap? My truck's A/C is still running it's original R-12 and it works great so i'd like to see if i can avoid it and just replace the Heater core or if i have to live with a leak.

I supposed you could cut the HVAC box apart, and try to glue it back together; but that's a false economy IMO.

You're gonna have to disconnect the lines from the EVAP core in order to remove the heater box. Your truck is 27 years old. What condition do you think the EVAP core is in? After going to all the work of removing the heater box, it just makes sense to replace the EVAP core too. Also, the small leak in your heater core will very quickly turn into a large one!

One can always check out Youtube to see if someone has a work around. I'm not too proud to check it for something I've never done before. While I can probably figure something out myself, it saves time to see if someone has a short cut.
