1995 dodge Dakota no spark no fuel
I recently bought a 1995 dodge Dakota 2.5 l manual transmission with 145000 miles. I've replaced the fuel pump, the ignition coil, all new spark plugs, wires, distributor cap and rotor. Im still not getting spark and the distributor is spinning. Even replaced the computer. it will start with ether but only very shortly and rather ruff. the wire splice underneath the fuse box is fine. Im not getting any fuel from the fuel pump. The fuel pump is getting power because when i replaced it the gas gauge started working, and if i apply direct power to the fuel pump it starts pumping but not when i turn the key. I was told the crankshaft position sensor could be at fault but that later found out my truck does not have one. it also does not have a fuel pump relay. The fan relay has a burnt mark where it seemed to have sparked. Does anybody have any recommendations on how to fix this.
I'd check the ASD relay which does what the fuel pump relay does in MPFI trucks (the 1995 is still TBI).
Also, the 1995 factory service manual is linked to in the FAQ; I'd download that to help chase the wiring out.
But it does sound like a wiring problem.
(What your truck uses to generate spark AND fuel pump enable - that is, the ASD - is the pickup in the distributor.)
I have a silly question.
If you have no spark, how did it run AT ALL on ether? No spark, no run, no matter what else you have.
There's three parts needed - air, fuel, spark. Ether replaces fuel for a test, so you'd have spark and air.

There's also a vulnerable ground by the under hood relay box too, at least there is for 3.9L vehicles.
Since your truck is 95 it shouldn't be OBD2 so you should be able to pull blink codes by using the procedure...do that and see what the ECU says is wrong.
That's all I've got to offer on this right now..

Then it has spark; your testing is flawed.
Else it won't start to run at all.
OTOH - if it doesn't see the proper pulses from the distributor pickup, it might spark once or twice and quit.
Again, pull down the FSM, peruse what it says for no spark no fuel.
I'd try swapping the ASD relay myself if I were you.
