Default a/c oil capacity for '87?

I have an '87 with A/C (someone who's run an A/C shop for years and worked on these when they were new told me in '87 it wasn't a factory option, but factory-approved-aftermarket/dealer option). The compressor is leaking, so I'm going to replace it, the expansion valve, and the drier (and yes, get the condenser and evaporator flushed), and I'm trying to do as much of the work as possible myself before I take it in to get flushed and charged. The new compressor is a UAC and comes with something like 5.6 oz. of PAG-46 installed, but I don't know what it should be for the full system. I don't see a sticker either under the hood or inside the door that lists oil capacity or refrigerant charge, does anyone know what it should actually be? I have the FSM for the '95, but there are significant differences between what's described in there and what I actually have, plus the table that talks about oil capacity just doesn't make sense. The system that I've got is R134a, not R12.

I don't have the 1987 FSM, but for 1988 (which is an almost identical system - one hose routes slightly differently), it's 7 to 7.25 fluid ounces. So if it's been fully flushed, I'd add another 1.5 to 1.8 fluid ounces of oil to the system.

I wish you the best of luck.

BTW - In the 1986-1987 parts list, illustration 24-2000 shows the factory part numbers for the factory A/C.

Is the control for the AC in the heater control (one unit) or is it separate?

If it's combined for heater and A/C, it's factory. The guy at the A/C shop has been sniffing too much R12 over the years ...
