Default 46rh into 87

I did my first test fit of putting a 46rh transmission in my 87 6.1 hemi Dakota. Its proving to be a bit of a challenge. To get it in, it has to go in tilted with the starter area up as I do not want to remove a header. My headers have to be dented at the dipstick as the 46rh kicks out and my headers touch the oil pan. The floor needs clearance for the overdrive unit. Its 7 inches longer than the 998. The trans mount is not far off. I have the Dana 60 test fit as well. Driveshaft needs to be 61 inches. Will have to talk to the driveshaft shop and see what my options are. Its still too long for how fast it can go in 3rd gear. It may not be a problem but it will be something to think about on the chassis dyno.

Going to try to get all the shifter linkage bushings, one was broken. I ordered the dorman kit first to see which ones it has.

I did not take any pictures of the 46rh, I upgraded it to a billet front drum with 6 clutches, a steel front planetary (they break if it spins on the 1-2 shift as I broke one in a 727) I also added clutches in the overdrive, has a transgo shift reprogram kit.

Pic of the Dana 60, need to weld on new perch mounts after setting pinion angle.

Did my 2nd test fit today. I got it to fit the floor. Trans mount just needs to be relocated 2 inches farther back. The 46rh mount bolts to the crossmember.

The big shifter linkage bushings are expensive and shipping is huge to Canada. The $5 one on the frame is $30 to ship, transmission side is $35 and did not check shipping. The 4 small ones are $1.50 at Rockauto. I'm going to see if I can come up with a solution for the big ones. I have to make a new bracket for the transmission bushing, and shorten the shift linkage.
