I have a 1994 dakota 5.2l v8. club cab 2wd short bed.
I wanna install a transgo shift kit. anybody ever put one on their trucks? how hard is it, and did it improve the performance at all.

Should be an A518 (at least from a tranny rebuilder standpoint)
Depending on what company or who you ask it is categorized by other #'s ( 46 RE, 42RH, Yata Yata Yata, Whatever, theres lots of #'s that mean the same thing)
Crawl under your truck and look at the tranny pan. If it is rectangular then it is an A500, IF it is rectangular but has a buldge on the right hand side under the dipstick tube, then it is an A518. Should be a 518 for the V8, but there are a coulple of 500 running around out there behind V8's.

I have a Transgo that is waiting to go into mine. If you do attempt to do this yourself, take your time and make sure you have a very clean work area. You do not want to muck up a valvebody. I am looking forward to mine when I get the chance to do it. My tranny pan gasket has failed once again, so I may try and do it whan I put a Mopar gasket in instead of the cheap cork ones I've been using, but I also want to put a deep tranny pan in as well, either the Mopar one or LPW.
