I am looking at buying a 1989 Dakota SLT single cab 4x4. Was toying with ideas of Dropping a hemi and changing her to manual transmission....thoughts??? Is it possible???
My understanding of the Holley kit is it moves the engine forward for header clearance.
I have a 6.1 in a 87, the only real tight spot is the upper rad hose. I do not know how tight the oil pan to the front diff is, I notched the frame for oil pan clearance.
I do not know how much trouble switching a 4x4 to manual transmission will be.
Pretty good shape except I think I have to replace the head gasket. Still on the fence for this truck, but might be really worth the trouble. Straight body and frame. Most parts are replaced already. And would be a great project for me.

As long as you’re not in any big hurry it could be some fun. Take your time.
