Got my hands on the 89 dodge dakota convertible. I wanted to go 4x4 and drop a new engine in it, maybe even diesel. Any suggestions?

 

I have a suggestion.

Don't.

It's a rare collectable right now; you're planning to chop it up and ruin it for that.

If you want 4x4, since the frames are different, I'd buy a 4x4. Your other choice is a solid axle conversion; and if you have to ask for suggestions, that's not for you.
