1988 TBI Vacuum Manifold - Where to Find Replacement?
Hey guys,
I decided it was time to replace all the vacuum lines from the throttle body, and I ended up breaking off a vacuum port on the rear vacuum manifold on the throttle body. One of the lines had practically welded itself onto the vacuum port, and despite cutting the line with a utility blade, it would not come off. With enough force, the port eventually broke. I am now in need of a replacement vacuum manifold, and out of all ports, it happened to be for the line that goes to the MAP sensor.
The 1988 - 1989 Mopar Parts Catalog shows the front vacuum manifold (#17), but does not show the rear vacuum manifold, and neither have part numbers.
I searched around on Google and eBay for a 1988 Dodge Dakota throttle body, but had no luck finding one aside from a few remanufactured options, and I'd rather not spend $350+ over a broken vacuum port. Pulling a throttle body from a salvage yard isn't an option as the closest salvage yard is over 300 miles away, judging by car-part.com.
If a replacement vacuum manifold isn't obtainable, I'd consider swapping the original throttle body for an aftermarket assembly, assuming an aftermarket computer and adapter plate or 1987 intake manifold are used.
If anyone has a suggestion as to where I might be able to find a rear vacuum manifold, I'd greatly appreciate a reply.

Great idea. I took your suggestion and bought a brass barbed fitting at Home Depot. Depending on how cold it is outside, I'll try to drill out the manifold and install the fitting within the next few days.
The truck runs okay, I used a shop rag to plug the vacuum leak as best as possible. I've been using one of the smaller vacuum outlets on the front vacuum manifold for the MAP sensor for the time being. A few times I've had the check engine light come on, shortly followed by the computer cutting off spark and fuel to the engine.
Aside from loss of power and poor fuel economy, it hasn't been so bad. Once the fitting is installed, all should be back to normal. Thank you for the suggestion.
I'll update with the results.

- Code 13: "MAP sensor signal to the computer (ECU) not changing"
- Code 52: "Running too rich"
