Honestly It would be much easier to remove the whole bed. I had to do the fuel pump a couple months ago. I went to the wrecker and saw how easy it is to destroy the support bands for the tank. Save yourself the hassle. There's 8 bolts that hold on the bed around the frame. Just remember to disconnect the tail lights and gas hose going to the fuel door to the tank itself...you don't want to damage that. And remove the tailgate so there's not so much weight to carry off the truck. Good luck!

There is at least one vid on YT where the guys just disconnect the bolts, fill tube and wire harness then prop up the bed up from the fuel tank side on milk crates. That will scrape the bed paint against the bumper. Yes i did. :/

That's how I accessed my fuel tank. Had to remove the spare tire crank tube too. No big deal.
