Default AX-15 Short Throw

I’m not sure if this has been asked before but I didn’t find it on a google search so I figured I’d post on the forum. Does anyone make a shifter kit for the AX-15 in the Dakotas and or is it the same as for a TJ/LJ/MJ? I see listings for a b&m for the Jeep platform but not sure if it’s the same I’m not very familiar with the transmissions differences other than the bell housings.

I was having fun on the way home from a car meet and lined up with my friend for a roller and was in 3rd to I believe a little past 5k and went to shift into 4th and the tranny refused to go into gear (no grinding just felt like the shifter was stuck) then randomly went into some gear that wasn’t 4th it was either 2nd or reverse I couldn’t hear the engine rev up so I’m not sure if it did but given the tires locked up it was either reverse or 2nd. (I’m seeing if I can confirm that with a buddy who was behind me, I asked if he saw my reverse lights come on for a second). With the v6 I kind of had the same issue, I know there are lockouts to prevent you from money shifting so maybe with the rpm I was at it blocked me out of 4th but somehow let me shift into 2nd?

Nothing happened to the transmission at least to my knowledge, everything still shifts the same, no weird noises other than the ones it’s made since I put the engine in, reverse still works, etc. It was for less than a second so I know nothing got hurt “too bad”.

But it kind of made me want to invest in a new shifter as there is so much slop with the current shifter which makes it hard to find gears that’s actually probably why it was so hard to find 4th because it was off to the side and I couldn’t feel the middle. Before you say anything, yes I know it’s a truck transmission not a race transmission, but I feel like a 3rd to 4th shift should be an easy shift it’s literally straight down.
