The owners manual for our '96 Dakota 3.9L specifies an oil crankcase capacity of 3.5 quarts. I know the oil fliter is on the small side, but to get the level up to the full line during an oil/filter change is 3.5 quarts really enough in your experience my fellow forum members? Thank you.

 

I put in 4 quarts and I get the bigger filter that is available.
