Default Electrical Issues

I own a 92 dodge dakota, last year it started having an issue to where if you turn the blower motor on or a/c or heat it will blow the 20 amp Auto Shutdown Fuse under the hood and also pegs the voltage gauge down below 8 volts on the dash, and if you turn it on heat you can smell burning electrical, which turns out to be the 5 wire plug that attaches to the firewall on the right side under the hood, it seems to be melting only the black with tan line it and tan wire which I assume goes into the cab and controls the blower motor, and once all this started happening my wipers stopped working, sprays fluid but wipers do not work, pic attached of what I am talking about

I think thats the Resister for differant fan speeds. If you un bolt it, you'lle have a coil resister behind that plug. For mine, a 94 Dak, I think that the wires to the inside cab are in the engine compartment right in front of the driver. It's a Square plug. If you look down between the brake Booster and the washer bottle , there is a black sqare plug into the cab.

If it's melting that wire , your fan is pulling too much current(Amps). for one reason or another. That Coil is insde the heater duct, so air blowing around cools it ? Check to make sure the Fan Fuze is what it's supposed to be. Look in the FAQs for your model year and download a copy of the FSM. Dont know about why the auto shut down fuze is blowing .I'll have to look at my book.

Lets see if I can keep this straight, in my vehicle, the fan is powered by fuze #1, 30A, which is powered from the Ignition switch. The fan power goes to the fan motor and the ground side of the motor goes to the hi tap on that firewall resister. A Black/Tan #12 wire, Then the lower voltage taps go to the fan speed switch. and then to ground. The ignition switch powers a bunch of fuzes, like #10, 20a, for my wipers and #1 for the blower. The Ignition switch gets power from the Charging sys, the engine start relay,(For cranking) Oops, Actually, Power for the Ig switch comes from the Power Dist Center. DONT know if it the same as your Dakota, mines a 94, 5.2l, auto,4x4. It might be different.
