5.2 Throttle Body
Hi,
I"m sure this thread has come up numerous times but I was wondering if someone could shed some light on this for me. I have a 93 Dakota 5 speed 3.9L and was wondering if someone could tell me how their 5.2 throttle body swap went. Any pictures and instructions on how to do this would be greatly appriciated. Also, where did you guys get the throttle body from and can you feel any power differnece?
Thanks

www.car-part.com. I picked up a spare TB for my truck that way so I could port it and swap it out. $40 shipped I think was the cheapest price, and I got a TB with throttle bracket and sensors still installed. Mine is a 318 though, but for you you will need new throttle cables since the linkage is different on the V8s and V6s. Otherwise it is a straight swap.
The linkage is the same. The automatics just have an extra kickdown cable. A V8 throttle body will bolt right up in the same location. The effect is great until the computer learns how its running. then it gets a little sluggish on a stock motor. Vacume to the brakes it better though.
took the one off my 360 while im waiting to build it and stuck it on my 3.9. did have to swap the iac from my 3.9 tb being the fact that the 5.9 tb was off a 99 r/t and my truck is a 96. as far as throttle i took a piece of aluminum wire about 10 guage and twisted it all nice and attatched it. with the air cleaner on it you dont even see it. even if you could i wouldnt be embaressed, it doesnt look rigged.
