I have a 1994 and i keep up on the maintanance. The only thing i have had to replace was the water pump and that was at 250k. I use my truck for everything i live in a little town and i go mudding all the time i take it to the dunes. I live in michigan so i am always pulling out them ****ty chevy and fords from the ditch and she is running strong at 280k it doesnt burn any oil or make any noises.

One hundred eighty thousand on my 89 Dakota Convertible 3.9L. Used Slick 50 every 50K. Best thing on the vehicle still runs strong.

I've heard that the 3.9's timing chains were notorious for 'stretching', although i've never actually seen one with a bad timing chain, trannies are always a problem on these depending on how you drive them, I've seen them go 100k-250k without a problem. daks are tough. Mine's got the 5.2 with 177k miles, burns very little if any oil, on second trans, I love my truck.

sold my 92 with 155,000 miles. I bet it is still going strong.

trans needed a new overdrive soleniod or a speed sensor.
radiator was replaced. had a good deal of rust though. stupid painted bumpers.
