Default High Idle

Please help,

I have a 94 dakota 3.9 v6. I had a problem with a eratic and high idle after warm up so I pulled everything from the heads up and replaced every seal, gasket, and o-ring. Started it up and am still having the exact same problem. I disconnected and plugged all the vacum ports to rule out the vacum lines and still had the excessively high idle. I have been reading about distributor indexing but I am not sure if I understand if this will help.

Any resonce would be great
Thanks
Chad

The idle is set from the factory through the computer. You can take it to a shop and have the computer reset and it should idle your truck properly.

some vehicles have a torex screw that is hidden by a cap (you would have to pry it out) on the throttle body that controls idle speed.

you have Multi Port Injection and should have an Idle Speed Air Control Valve/Motor on the side of the throttle body. this controls your idle speed by allowing more or less air to flow or bypass the throttle plates. May be time to clean up the throttle body and replace the valve. you could try cleaning the valve and the ports where it mounts to and see what happens.
