Default another v6 to v8 swap question

i've been seaching alot of forums, but cant seem to fin the awnsers i need. i have a 96 dakota with over 200k that has a rod knocking real bad. i also have a 79 ram with a rebuilt 318 and 727 trans. the 79 is rusted totally out and i want to put the 318 in my dakota. heres a few questions. if you have any awsers or can point me in the right direction for some, please do.

motor mounts? can i just buy stock 318 mounts?

will the 5 speed from the dakota bolt up to the 318?

will the 727 bolt up with little mods?

if you could tell me any info that you think could help, it would be much appreciated.

The 727 will bolt up fine. The 5 speed will bolt up if it is from a 318 or 3.9L.

As for motor mounts, you need to make sure the 79 block has the center mounting system meaning the three bolt holes mideway on either side of the block. The old style mounts are on the front of thre block.

You will need to find a manual computer if you plan to keep injection. 96 is OBD II and it wont like not having an input from the 727 or the 5 speed.

So there ya go. The 79 block wont bolt in the stock 96 motor mount locations. You will need to do some fabrication to make it work.

What year did 318's switch to the midmount location? Does it matter if the 318 comes from a truck, car or van?
