Default 88 Dakota won't start. Possibly starter?

I have an 88 dodge dakota 3.9L V6 4x4 w/160,000miles. I have a problem with it not starting at all. The battery is good. The only way I can get it to do anything is to unhook the battery terminals for a few minutes. When I hook them back up the dome light and idiot light and radio will turn on. Then when I turn the key to turn the motor over it all turns off and will not come back on unless it unhook the battery and hook it back up. So my question is would this have anything to do with the starter? Or would it be something with the computer, ignition switch, possibly wiring, or something else?

Sounds like a shorted out starter, did you replace the starter relay that islocated on the drivers side wheel well.
