My RPM's are slightly differant each time my truck idles (anywhere from 500-800 RPM). I would say this is probably normal, as long as it doesn't idle very high (like my friends Acura that would idle at 1,500 RPM at each startup, until you ran it down the block).

Jumpy idle is sometimes caused by a vacuum leak. Do you hear any hissing sounds under the hood? Also PVC valves that are old/clogged can cause poor idling.
