lifter noise on 3.9
i have a slight lifter noise on my 89 3.9. is there an additive that i could be adding to the oil, or maybe switch to a synthetic oil that would reduce this. i currently run the standard valvolene oil

I've used marvel mystery oil in my crank on my 2000 ram 5.9 motor and the noise went away...

I added lucas engine oil stabilizer to my crankcase in the talon and the lifter tick that plaged my dohc 2.0l went away. I also added some to my 3.9 in my dak and it quieted that down a bit too. It also had a lifter ticking. Not bad tho, but enough I could hear it when it idled. It seems to run a tad bit smoother too.

I use lucas too. in my 88 dakota 3.9 I had a huge lifter noise, so I dumped a bottle of lucas in it and the noise went away.
