Default fuel tank

Hi I am new here and have a real big problem. Coming home, the tank fell out of the truck and scrubbed a hole through. Got the tank out, but can't fix it and can't find a new one. Any ideas or help would be appreciated. Sorry forgot to mention.. it's a 93, ext cab 4x4, v8 5.2.

Makeitmopar.com lists both the 15 and 22 gallon tanks for $358. According to them, those tanks fit the 92-97 Dakotas. (Makeitmopar.com sells Dodge factory parts for less than the dealers price.)
Seeing as you probably don't want to dump near $400 on a tank, I would see if a junk yard around you have any Dakota's in those range of years. I'm sure you will find some.
When installing the new (or, new-to-you) tank, check the new tank straps. Make sure they are in good condition, and all mounting hardware is in good shape (you don't want this to happen again!).

Thank you. That's my goal today. Keeping my fingers crossed. Just got off the phone with the local dodge dealer and even they say they can't get one, so hopefully I have better luck with the junkyards.

How do I know what capacity tank it is? Sorry for all the dumb questions, but really don't know much about cars. Thanks for the help.

Aside from how many gallons it took to fill up compared to the gauge (if the gauge read half and it took 7 gallons, it was the 15, if it took 10-ish it was the 22). Other than that I dont know.

For a rough estimate: Multiply the width of the tank by it's lentgh and by it's height (W x l x H) all in inches for cubic inches. Divide by 231 (231 cubic inches in 1 US gal.).

Greg

Try calling the dealer service dept with your VIN number. They should be able to tell you what it left the factory with.
