Default troubleshoot this crap

It all started when I had trouble starting my truck. It would turn over and over but would not hit. If you turn the key back to off and try again somtimes it would start, and somtimes you would just have to repeat this cycle a couple of times. Then about a week ago it took almost ten minutes of this crap before it started. So I am thinking it must be the fuel pump. But before I replace an overpriced part I am going to troubleshoot. So I put a fuel pressure tester on it and tried and tried to get it to do it again. Finally the results the I am looking for, almost 40 PSI and she will not start. After a little internet search I come across several references for the ASD relay. That sounds cheap so I decide to replace the auto shutdown relay. After a moment of consideration I decided to pull it and take it with me. After consulting the manual for the exact location, the cap came off and I discover a 2" piece of yellow 8 gauge wire where the ASD relay should have been. Can anybody guess if this bulls*** wire was loose.

Ok on to the issue. When I place the air conditioner relay in the ASD relay slot the truck will not start. When I put the little piece wire in tight starts right up every time, never fails. Purchasing another relay from dodge has not solved the problem (didn't think it would). My first thought is the computer. I have not had time to troubleshoot this anymore, because it works when I need it, and it not my daily driver. I have not checked the wires under the relay box, but any thoughts would be helpful.

thanks

Thats' all I need to know.
Here is what you need to do: disconnect the battery. Take out the Automatic shutdown relay, jumper wire, or whatever is in the ASD place.
Get a multi-meter, ohmmeter, continuity tester, whatever.
Test for continuity between cavity 85 (blue in picture provided) of the ASD relays spot, and PCM cavity C3. (The PCM is located on the passenger side inner-fender. It's a black-box type thing with three big connectors. Connector "C", I believe, is the one most towards the front. Of course, I can be wrong, so, if you don't get continuity with the one closest to the front, try the other two. The pin numbers should be indicated on the connector side.)
It's a good idea that, when you have the PCM connectors off to inspect them for corrosion. Clean any corrosion off, and apply some di-electric grease to the pins, since this will help prevent it from forming again.
Than, test for continuity between ASD relay cavity 86 (purple in provided picture) and fuse C (labeled "Ign. Sys." in the pic, a 40A fuse, in Power Distribution Center [PDC]) with the key in the ignition, and switched to how it would be if the truck was running (aka "RUN" or "ON" position)
Make sure you put all the connectors back on, and you can than reconnect the battery and post your results back here.
