Need help with OD problem, 93 Dakota
okay. so mine is definatly a moisture issue.
left the truck alone for a day or so. today it wasnt raining or anything. and it worked like a dream. hit OD every shift!
i havnt looked to see if anything is broken or whatever. clearly something is. just havnt looked yet.
hope this helps you!

dont know how your problem has progressed. but i pulled the OD pigtail off thesoleinoi( how ever its spelt)and it was full of water. blew both out. filled it with dielectric grease. it hasnt rained yet so i cant say if it fixed it. hope this helps you ..
OKAY, so ill do an update on this thread.
my truck was messing up last night again.
it was wet out, like normal. it was half assed working then. it stopped completly.
i dont ever drive with my high beams on, because they suck. well for some reason i flipped them on. and the truck went into OD. odd i think, but perhaps considence?
NOPE.
turn the lows on. shifts out of OD.
so i drive with my highs on for a while. then that came to an end. shift out of OD.
tried to flick them back and fourth, to no avail...
but i noticed that it would work for a second.
held the switch for the lights between the highs and the lows. so that both are on.. and voola. the bitch goes in to OD. so i held it between for the rest of the ride home. and it works.
i dont know the wiring on this truck at all, but i guess im going to have to do some tracing of wires, unless anyone has some HELP!!!!!!

Hello,I've had a simular problemwith my 92 dakota 3.9 liter and after replacing numerous parts, I was asked if it made a differance if the car was warm or cold .in my case if the car was warmed up or if it was warm outsideit did make a differance. I was told to change my transmission filter and after about a week of driving it I haven't had a problem with it since. I had about 135k on it. it's also a cheap place to start also.
hate to add to the overdrive problems, ive got one for yah, mine works fine but everyonce and a while the overdrive disengage will come on on me for no reason, i really noticed it at night cause all of a sudden the orange light came on, i know i didnt bump it or anything so no idea on what causes it to do that.
has ne1 figured out the OD problem yet ? i have the same problem as the starter of this group, except i too have noticed when it is warm or dry out i have no trouble. my truck is riddled with electrical problems. so iam wondering if my O/D off switch is malfunctioning? also i called someone they say it my be the kickdown cable if that helps ne1, or has ne1 tried that lately ?
also,i have replaced the throttle position sensor, i dont remember how much that cost but iam a College student on a tight budget so i know it wasnt much. so of y'all might want to try that too.but it didnt work for me
