Default Good sounding exhauts?

Hey, I'm in the process of putting a sidepipe on my truck. I was planning just to cut it behind the cat and side pipe it from there, I just cut it off behind the cat and now I realize this is wayy to loud lol. But I did notice that my cat looked as if it was cut open and welded back together (maybe gutted?). Anyways, I'm just wondering if anybody has found a good cat or cat and muffler configuration that sounded good and is loud (but not too loud) for their dakota.

I'll take that into consideration, my buddy has an IMCO 1 to 2 muffler, sounds great, might look into that too, this way i'd also have 2 sidepipes lol.

not sure where you are but I'm presently in Arkansas and a ton of folks down here just remove the muffler and run straights out of the cat.If your cat has been gutted just replace it w/new and go straight pipes from there the sound is quite impressive even on a v6 kinda loud but mellow too,and if you have a v8 oh man schweeet sound!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Yea lol thats what lots of my friends do. We're in ontario. I have been running straight pipes straight from the cat for about a week and its just a bit too loud for my liking, although it is pretty fun to rip super loud. Anyways I bought a imco 1 to 2 muffler loudest one in stock, figured $100 muffler is better than a new $250 cat. Now im in the process of puttin 'er in
