automatic to manual switch
Does anyone know how difficult it would be to change an auto tranny to a stick? I have an automatic now and I really miss driving a manual and want to know how much pain and suffering is involved. A little info on my truck: 1995 V-8 magnum 3spd+O/D 4WD (2H/N/4H/4L) and does anyone know what tranny I have? Suggestions on a manual? I know I will have to drop in a clutch pedal and possibly relocate my 4WD shifter, cut out a hole for the transmission shifter, etc., but what about the rear end and differential? Will those need changed out/ reinforced? Any and all responses will be considered and thanx for your time. Mind you, this is still a thought and nothing I plan on doing just yet. But this automatic is driving me nuts!!!
I believe you have the 46RE for your transmission. They might have still had the 46RH in 1995, I'm not sure. (RE is electronically controlled, RH is hydraulically controlled)
I don't know about the rest, sorry.

Thank you for the information and thank you for your service to your country. Is there anything on the tranny that would indicate which type I have? Would the VIN# have that info in it?
You can call the dealership and give your VIN # and they can look up what transmission came with your truck. Granted, they might have to get off their butts and type a few letters and numbers in so they might give you a hard time.
Using the VIN # you can find out: its of US origin, its a Dodge Dakota truck, what GVWR it has, the line (4x4 or 4x2), standard or extended cab, what engine it came with, the year, and the assembly plant. The last 6 numbers are special to your truck and only Chrysler knows what they mean.
