torsion bars on my 92 4x4
its been a long time since i did anything with the torsion bars, but they are easy to find. look from the side of the truck behind the front wheel and you will see a bar about 1 inch in diameter several feet long going back along the frame. at one end you will see a bolt, tightening that bolt will raise the truck. raise it a little at a time, then raise the other side, there are 2 torsion bars, counting revolutions on each bar keeping them the same. i wouldnt raise the truck more than about 1.5 inches with the bars. i should ask, you do have torsion bars and not springs up front, if there are springs you dont have bars. you need to get a front end alignment after tigthening these
ok i found a bar that runs along the inside of the frame that bar goes about leavel with the back of the doors, but there is no bolt on that bar?? is the bolt i turn near it or am i looking at the wrong thing?? also i got this truck last year so how can i tell if some one else may have already ajusted it as far as it can go ??i realy need help on this as it's going to snow soon and my tires are bald and i need too get these other tires mounted up, thanks
the picture shows the rear of the bar where it mounts to the frame, to the left you can see the adjustment nut a few inches to the left in the crossmember. maybe someone can give you a stock height measurement form a 92 to base your lift from.
