Fuel Injector Problem?
I have a 1992 Dakota 5.2 ltr V8. I’ve had it since new. It has 141-k miles. At idle and on acceleration it has developed a stumble or mis-fire. New plugs, wires, timing, cap, rotor, all check out. Has new fuel pump & filter! No vacuum leaks can be detected. When throttle is pushed hard, she takes right off, mis-fire or stumble seems to disappear. Let off acieration and it returns. I’m no “wrench” but could it be fouled injectors? I’ve run several bottles of “fuel injector cleaner”, and tanks of high octane fuel, but still have a bad mis-fire at idle and low speed acceleration. What do you think?
How did the plugs look? When you replaced the wires/cap/rotor did you notice any carbon deposits, etc.?
Check your timing chain for allowable play (no more than 1/8")

FOUND THE PROBLEM ........... A while back I asked if anyone thought a problem with my 92 Dakota could be in the fuel injectors.
Well I was on the right track, but it was the electrical wiring to the injectors that was the problem. With age, the wires and the connections deteriorated, thus interupting the electrical pulse to several of the injectors. I hope my solution can help others.
