trim levels
hi there. we just got a dakota, so i thought i would ask a little about i because i can;t find much through google. the first gen changed a little through the years, but stayed pretty much the same. i have noticed there are a few various trim levels floating around. what are the differences between them? i have seen the sport, the le (mine) the slt i think, and i have seen that there are some with 4 cylinder motors, some with v8's but mostly the v6 3.9's. the 4x4 must have been an option to almost any trim level, as well as the club cab? anyways, can anyone sort me out a little please? thanks!
You know, thats a good quesion.
The main differances are in apperance and features (such as power locks, windows, etc.) But than again, you know that
.
Edmunds.com and autos.msn.com have break downs about this.

other than outside trim i dont know where they drew the line. the early sport models came with all kinds of options and could be dressed up or down. when i bought my 89 dak sport convertible new, i looked at a list of about a dozen different trucks and picked the truck with the options and color i wanted. the only option i didnt get was air, and several sport models had it. my sport has alloy wheels, power win/locks, tilt wheel, cruise, auto with overdrive, 4x4, carpeting, bosch fog lamps etc. some of the sports had every option.
