Default Maint Reqired light

Hi
My Name is Ken and I'm new to this forum
I've got a 92 Dak, 3.9L with A/T. Its got approxamitly 207,000 miles. I've had it for a year now, had to replace the computor when I first got it for voltage spikes. The tranny slips some but the engine seams to be running fine, recently the "maint required" light came on and stays on with engine running. I checked the "check engine" light codes by cycling the key and got code 55 which I believe means no faults. My operators manual says the systems involved are EGR, PCV, O2 & Bi-level Purge check valves and that the system will have to be reset after repair. First and main question is how do I reset this light and secondly is there any way of identifying which system requires maintenance. I have no record of prior maintenance but have maintained regular oil and filter changes since taking ownership. Any feedback on this will be greatly appreciated as emmission tests are due this month and I'm sure they will fail it with that light on.
Thanks
Ken

thats just your emissions light. when was the last time it was done. most likely when you last filled up with gas it caused some error. when ever i hit a bump hard enough while wheeling it always came on. go to any emmisions place and see if they can reset it. also there is a sensor that calculates miles and time engine was running that will trigger this. they still sholud be able to reset it

Yup, thats exactly what this light is, triggered by mileage. From what I gather, that light being on does not mean there is a fault in the emissions system.

Dealer will likely charge you to turn it off. Easier to just pull the bulb out of the dash. It has nothing to do with MIL status. Some Scantools can also turn it off. I have an older cartridge based Actron that does it.
