I have the newer light system with halogens. My problem is, the outer cover for my headlightsare yellowing. The orange turn signals are still nice. I was thinking I might trytake the covers off and dipping them in a dilluted muriatic acid solution for like 30 seconds then rinsing to see if it would take the yellow out and make them look new or newer. Good idea or bad???
Sometimes you can polish the outer layer and bring them back to life. Try starting with a nice paste car wax and then follow up with some plastic polish. Otherwise you will have to replace them.
These are all temporary solutions. To get the look of new headlights, you will need to get new headlights.
These headlights are not cheap (~$160 from the dealer)... buying new ones is pretty much a rip off considering their made of all plastic (which is why you have this problem).
And than, you will have the problem come back with the new ones, granted, it will take about the same number of years.
The polishing compound might require more frequent maintenance, but its a heck of a lot cheaper... unless you want to drop $320 on headlight assemblies.
