Axles and the such
I'm looking for a 4x2 short bed regular cab dakota for a I4 Cummins swap.
Do all Dakotas have the same rear end? How much torque can they handle? Has anyone here done such a thing? I'm not new to swaps, and I've seen I4 Cummins in plenty of other vehicles... just curious if anyone here has done it.
And does anyone know what style of bellhousing fits to the back of a b3.9 cummins? I'm hoping to find a little 6 speed like out of the newer Dakotas or Jeeps... just as long as they will last behind a diesel.
I'm a diesel nut, I used to own a 2002 Ram with the 5.9 cummins... and I built it to produce 509hp and 1063 ft/lb.
Thanks All.
Chris

my friend put a 3.9 cummins in his 88 jeep comanche. it he said it was a pretty easy swap. he said it bolted up to his stock 5spd transmission too. soI would go find a tranny outof a jeep and it should bolt right up.
I think it would be cool to put a diesel in a dakota. its amazing how muchpower you can get out of them now.

I'm looking for a CPL 1839 3.9. They have the P series inline injection pump, which is far superior to the rotary VE series pumps on all the other 3.9's.
But it's front sump, is that going to be a problem? It's a low turbo mount, front sump engine. 130hp.
