FYI on Transmission Mounts
I needed to replacethe transmission mounts on my truck (4wd, 5spd, 3.9 liter). Before I went to buy them, I went to the websites of the local chain auto parts stores (O'Rielly Auto, Autozone, and Advance - which is part ofpartsamerica.com with Kragen, Schucks, Checker, and Murray's). What I found out is they list the followingas the mount I need for my truck. I may be slow, but thatmount is not on my truck.
The mounts I needed were listed as going on the AUTOMATIC 4wd Dakota (part number is 2667 for the lower mount and 2668 for the upper mount). They are pictured below.
So if you need new transmission mounts for a 4wd, 5spd, 3.9 liter, and the parts person brings you something that looks like the top picture, ask for the mounts for the automatic.
Iinstalled them today, and man do they make a difference. The truck does not shake at idle anymore. Unfortunately, I had already replaced the motor mounts to try and fix the shake.
If the pictures don't show up and you want to see them, just go to partsamerica.com and and search the part numbers 2667 and 2668.
