Default tranny ?

this isnt a major problem(yet) but every so often when i am driving my tranny slips, its kinda like you put it in neutral and give it some gas and drop it into drive. the tranny was rebuilt 2 or 3 years ago and im not sure what kind it is, 93 5.2 2wd tow package, over drive. anyone have any experience with this or any answers? could it be the bands? how do you adjust them?[/align]

I would flush all the fluid and replace the filter. While replacing the filter you are in the area to adjust the bands. The Chilton manual explains how to adjust. Is just a matter of tighting and backing off the adjusting bolts. I would also add some Lucas tranny snake oil will not hurt.

After having a tranny rebuild, I was encountering the same problem. I took it back to the shop and they said it was a bad speed sensor which was sending an error code to the computer. This caused the tranny to go into what they called "limp" mode. After replacing the sensor it ran just fine.
