Default Stuck Blinker

When I make a turn, I signal, blinker stays on. I replaced the flasher on the fuse panel (twice - in case I got a bad one the first time) and that fixed it for about 10 blinks on each side. I've checked and replaced the bulbs and cleaned the sockets where needed. And the final part of the puzzle, the hazard lights work fine, they blink and everything.

The turn signal stalk works insofar as it lights up the proper blinker, its just that it doesn't blink so I've got to manually click on, click off, click on.... If left on, it clicks off once I've completed the turn - it just doesn't blink.

I'm stumped, my mechanic is stumped, anyone know how to fix?

soundsl ike you have a bad wire some where and it must be shorting out.

I would go over all the wires to the sockets and see if any are broken or shorting out. because if its blowing the relay after acouple times of using it, then there must be a short some where.

your blinker is sticking on most likely because theturn signal switch itselfprobably isn't working inside the column.only way to fix it is to replaceit. its not all that tough to do unless you have tilt steering then it can be tricky.

Thanks. Both sound plausible so I'll start by looking at the wires and if there's nothing glaring, then replace the switch. I've got the blinker/wiper/wash combo on a tilt column so it'll probably take awhile. Hopefully this will do it.

Hazzard and turn signals each have there own flasher. You said you replaced the turn signal flasher and it worked for 10 blinks. This would tell me it is there that the problem lies. Maybe a wire comming off the back is loose? I would explore this area more before you dig into the steering colum switch. Eletrical parts like sensors, flashers, ignition partsI always get from the dealer. Got a temp sensor once from local auto parts store did not work right.

Interesting. I didn't check the manual, just grbbed the flasher I saw. I'll switch these two flashers and see if that fixes anything.

Thanks
